This event has attracted over 100,000 people since 2007. It is a FREE annual festival that celebrates the positive achievements of young people. It also showcases their MUSIC, DANCE, ART, PHOTOGRAPHY, FASHION and FILM talent in front of  over 30,000

Youth Day Rock the Vote! My coverage! Federal leaders please read!!!!

On Wednesday September 23rd, 2015 I went to The Toronto Youth Day Rock the Vote event! The hastag was #YDRockTheVote. It was held at the Hard Rock Cafe in downtown Toronto!

I recorded my radio show along with my co-host Ashlee Brown from @Bos_rc and LYF!

I did get to ask a question at the press conference.

I shared the stage with @PeterLinseman and my press conference question was answered by liberal candidate @VoteCelina Nice meeting you Mr. Linseman and Ms Celina.

So here are my thoughts. I was excited to see many leaders from the NDP, Liberals and PC government. Actually, I thought they were going to be at this event because why wouldn't they be? They care about youth right?! However, I was sadly mistaken and this really made me sad. There were federal candidates at the event but they were missing their leaders like Justin Trudeau, Prime Minster Harper and Thomas Mulcair.

I interviewed many politicians but many couldn't answer my tough questions. I guess they didn't have the answers. There was many artists, youth, actors and actresses. However, not enough federal candidates. I'm an optimist and I still believe in our leaders. So I'm going to extend an official invitation to Justin Trudeau, Stephen Harper and Bill Mulcair to please come to our next Youth Day event. Your commercials are really awesome but I think it's time to show the youth that you care by showing up for us. Thank you

Thank to all the community leaders that showed their support!

 Here are some more pictures.

Thank you @YDToronto for supporting me as your Youth Ambassador and Official Blogger!
Happy Birthday to the founder of @YDToronto Tylaine Duggan. It just happened to be her 35th United States birthday!!!!!

YD Toronto 2015: When Words fail Music Speaks!

Hi guys: Today my mom shared a quote with me. This quote gave me a spark. The quote was "When words fail, music speaks". Then I thought to myself. This is like YOUTH DAY TORONTO and I just had to write another blog about YOUTH DAY! I wanted you to know that this quote is really important for kids on YOUTH DAY. This quote means, it's easier to listen, share, and create music. It's easier to listen to music when you are sad, upset and even happy than to share your feelings sometimes. Music is an expression. This brings me back to why Tylaine Duggan created YOUTH DAY TORONTO. Kids needed a way to express themselves and if kids aren't given a way to express themselves. Then they can get into big trouble. Tylaine Duggan created YOUTH DAY TORONTO because she wanted youth to pick up a microphone instead a gun.

If you care about youth please share my blog, and please tell a youth you know about YOUTH DAY TORONTO!!

Check out Youth Toronto 2014!

Auditions are happening right now. So just go to http://yd-toronto.com/Auditions.html sign up.

When and where is YD Toronto?

July 5, 2015 from 11am to 11pm at Yonge-Dundas Square

Still not convinced. Check Youth Day Toronto 2013!

My name is Brooke Aaliyah. I'm 11 years old and I'm YD Toronto's official blogger. Thank you Ms. Duggan for giving me a chance to express myself.

Part 2 @ItsBrookesworld at YOUTH DAY TORONTO 2014 with #R2RRadio

Hi guys: It's me Brooke from @ItsBrookesWorld and I'm back with Part 2 of my experience of Youth Day Toronto 2014! As I mentioned in  Part 1 of the last blog, I was on my way to the Hard Rock Cafe @MikiNembhard VIP @in_lounge to meet up with my good pals www.R2RRadio.com
Here I am with Miki Nembhard. Ms Nembhard hosted us in the lounge.

I was so excited to do my radio show. It was so exciting to see and interview singers, artists, politicians, celebrities, actors, actress, rappers, icons and performers.
My first interview was with Kelly Lovell. KellyaLovell was great to interview because she was so supportive and sweet.

Then I interviewed the creator of the www.disabilitynetwork.ca Jay Stoyan. Mr. Stoyan was so kind and had so much experience to share.

A few minutes later I noticed that my mother was freaking out in a happy way. I realized that I was in mid interview with Much Music icon Michael Williams. This was very exciting. I can actually tell you that we both interviewed each other. Spoiler alert.

Then I interviewed @LaFirmaSantana his voice was amazing.

I didn't think that I would be interviewing any mayoral candidates but it was awesome to interview someone that I had learned about in school Karen Stintz. You can follow her on twitter @KarenStintz

I even got to interview YOUTH DAY TORONTO'S headliner Francesco Yates. I have a secret to tell you about Francesco and he doesn't announce this on his twitter account....he is very shy. He actually sung to me and his voice is very similar to Michael Jackson. I have listened to many Michael Jackson songs. I did my research about Francesco before our interview and I think that Pharrell Williams is right about him. Check it out a clip from our interview. Check out his website too www.FrancescoYates.com

YOUTH DAY TORONTO was fun and awesome this year. Thank you Tylaine Duggan for making youth day possible. Thank you for giving youth hope and a voice. Check out YOUTH DAY TORONTO's website here http://www.yd-toronto.com/

Before calling it a wrap. I had to say hi to my friend Aria from www.givethekidsavoice.com She is a blogger too. Thanks for hanging with me for a bit Aria. You are so awesome!
Now for some more pictures.

Thank you Kevin Chin and Roger Thompson from @Read2rapmusic for giving me a voice. Without you, I wouldn't have a radio show and if YOUTH DAY TORONTO did not exist I would not have met you. You see Tylaine Duggan brought us together. The driven youth do work really hard but sometimes youth just  need to be given a chance and an opportunity to shine. So it's not always about luck. It's about the actions of ourselves and kind people around us. Please remember that everyone. Isn't that what YOUTH DAY is all about?

We are ready to be heard worldwide. See you next year.
